Hello friends!

So, I am sure you have all heard of the “little black dress.”

But, if you have not, I will give you some background on the origin of this classic, beautiful look.

The little black dress is famed to be one of the most beautiful looks, even to this day.

Coco Chanel created the original look for Vogue during the 1920s.

This is the first original sketch of the little black dress:

As you can see, the first little black dress had a very temperate, toned-down look.  It fit with the ‘flapper’ style during that time and with added jewelry and a hat, created an instant classy look. However, this look has evolved over time and has become very modern, yet unique and beautiful at the same time.  There are many different ways the little black dress has been interpreted and modified, but it has still remained slightly similar and true to its original version. Absolutely any person can pull off this classic look!

Here are some examples of modern “little black dresses” :

These are just a few ways that the little black dress has been modernized, still staying true to the original style, but being unique items of their own.  When wearing a little black dress, it is best to not get too flashy or over the top because the dress speaks for itself.  It’s a statement dress so you don’t need to dramatize your outfit, it already holds a ton of drama!  Simple jewelry, classic black or red pumps, and red lips would complete this elegant look.

Don’t get too crazy!

The “little black dress” has also become a universal look due to Audrey Hepburn’s execution of this style in the movie, “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”  She is, primarily, the one who made the LBD iconic in society.  Audrey Hepburn had such a classy, romantic way to herself, which influenced her audience.  When people saw her in the dress, they realized how lovely she was and how lovely the dress was.  The look became very popular throughout society, which is why the dress is where it is today.

In almost every fashion store you can find.

Bellissimo!

Two years ago, I went to a homecoming dance and wore a little black dress to the event.  I added a pair of cheetah pumps and limited my jewelry so the attention was focused on the dress.  It was a big hit and I was proud of my look! I’ll give you guys a look see!

I got the dress and ring from a discount store called Fox’s on Route 10.  The shoes are Jessica Simpson.
